I originally planned to write more prolifically this year since we ended the podcast last summer, but last fall I was hit hard with the reality that I cannot get a job (that I can physically do) in Germany without a college degree. So, I re-enrolled at Laney and started taking classes online in the hopes of being able to finish my Associates degree in Social Sciences and transfer to a 4-year university to get a Bachelor’s degree that will make me gainfully employable.
I’ve been studying full time since January and I’m excited to announce that in the fall of this year I should (class-availability-gods willing) be able to petition to graduate in the Spring of 2026! But I need help to make it across the finish line: I’m paying the out-of-state tuition which is about 10x as much as the in-state rate.
I launched a Gofundme to help cover the cost of the classes this year so I can get my degree before the Trump administration’s cuts to the Dept. of Education and States he personally dislikes (like CA) hit my school. I’m only $2,500 away from hitting that goal!
Anything above the $9k I need to pay for my classes this year will go to paying for the classes I need to continue working towards a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences at the Open University.
