Fitness and Nutrition 101

I realize setting this “goal” is ironic after going shopping for tv dinners and ramen noodle cups, but life happens.
Anyway, This post is going to be relatively short. I’ve been taking vitamins again, now that I remember. I’m really good with taking my iron (flintstones ftw) it’s the other stuff that I have a problem with. I hate normal milk, so I don’t get as much calcium as I should – but we started getting chocolate milk (because I drink that) so that is my round-about way of getting it.

Vitamins

Everyday when I wake up, I take two Vitamin C’s and a Flintstone (it has iron) multivitamin. I actually look forward to those because they taste good. Someone finally had the idea to make a gummy vitamin C, so the trick is really only eating two. 😛 After I eat lunch, I take two Vitex pills for hormonal balance. I haven’t noticed any changes with that, but it’s significantly less like candy.
I still walk about a mile every day –  give or take lately because the sidewalks are precarious. I should change my pace a little to increase my heart rate and I’ll start using RunKeeper again to keep track. I even found a widget for it and put it up on my sidebar. Just because the last activity was October doesn’t mean I haven’t done anything.
Lastly, I’ve decided to up my water intake and drink more green tea. I have a water bottle that filters the water as you drink it. I don’t know how many ounces it holds, but it’s a pretty decent size. So if I can just remember to keep it with me and refill it enough throughout the day that will be an improvement. Green Tea, I’ve heard is good for metabolism/burning fat, and it’s winter so it’s a win/win. I had two cups yesterday while I was sewing and I just finished one a couple minutes ago. I think I’m going to attempt to have two cups of green tea a day, but we’re running low so I’m not sure how long that’s going to work.
Eventually I’d like to try one of those anti-bloating drink recipes on pinterest, we’ll have to see.

Infographic

I need someone to make an infographic of all the vitamins and things you need to have every day and what kinds of food to find them in, that way I can look at it and figure out how to make food that has all of it in there. Something that I could draw lines between to make a meal would be super fun. I really wish I remembered the things from my nutrition dvds in highschool…
Also, an info graphic on how to adjust my eyes and nose to cat hair would be cool too. I don’t think the weather outside is helping at all either. It’s too cold and wet to open the windows for long. I did just sweep up though, so I probably got some more furs on me. It’s nothing unbearable though, just not used to it yet. Tonks is so worth it though, he’s adorable.

sidebar: I did some more screenwriting in my office on my comfy futon. I think I’m going to finish the dishes and paint to Harry Potter, and if there’s time, do some questing in Northrend before I finish the laundry and go grocery shopping. (Dinner adventure consists of applebees because we already ate the tasty salisbury steak for lunch).

Dinnner

Been cooking a little more off and on, I suspect I’ll probably be cooking more often this week and or least until Alex isn’t working late as much.
Today I made hamburgers because our tomato was going bad – I made the last of our natural frozen fries and added carrots for some crunchy vitamin A or whatever it is.
I need to go grocery shopping…
We had leftovers for lunch, and we’ll probably have the left over casserole that my mother in law sent us home with tomorrow (THANK YOU!).
/this has been dinner adventures with Kiery. Tune in next time.

Coughs and Giant Snowflakes

I’ve been sick on and off for a while…I guess it’s more that I’ve been sick, it just bothers me more at different times. Anyway, today I was feeling bad and so I brought out my pillow and a blanket and put them on the couch under the window. I sort of zombie-stare out of it into the sky and towards the roof with icicles. There was a huge icicle earlier, and then I looked away and when I looked back it was gone. I don’t know if it fell or melted…but on the other side there are 4 tinier skinnier ones that are just kinda hanging there like fangs. It’s like our gutter has a mouth and wants to bite…the air.

There are also giant snowflakes – well there were, they’re tinier now, but earlier they were really really big and falling slowly. Way more fun than yesterday when there was lots of snow that was falling super fast….like a pouring rain, except…snow. There was almost a glimpse of blue sky too, but then more clouds came, now the sun looks like a cotton ball.

From what the weathermen say there will be more snow today and into tomorrow….but the nutcracker is on Thursday so hopefully the roads will be clear for that.

"Like" The Book

Today, as I’m sitting here trying to pump myself up on vitamin C and avoid catching yet another cold, I created a Facebook Page for my book, The Balloon Lady. I’ll be using it to post updates and other fun things (like, when and where you can buy it, and when the official website is up) and sync the blog posts to it as well. I love Facebook pages. So, if you think that’s cool, maybe you could like it?
And also, Happy December.

weather speak

It’s been overcast since Sunday, and according to the widget on my dashboard, we won’t be getting any sun until Saturday. I usually like rainy days…when they last a day and then there’s sunshine, but it feels horribly depressing when there’s no sun for days on end; Even when there are happy things going on (like my art class that started tonight). I’m always surprised how much my mood and energy level changes when there’s blue sky and when there’s not. A day of sunshine will somehow translate into way more energy and less grumpiness. I’ll end up doing all kinds of housey or artistic things (and I’ll be more confident driving). When it’s dark for days, sometimes even thinking about doing something creative (or cleaning, for that matter) just drains me.
Come to think of it, that’s probably why they invented Vitamin D3 capsules… I should probably start breaking those out.
