Peak Above the Clouds

Last night I sat down to paint the view from the plane as I remembered (except for the fairy, she just seemed fitting). It took a long time, because I thought that my 16×20 canvas was more appropriate a size for a mountain I could see from my neighbor’s window over the wing. I noticed how colorful the sky is at dawn – pinks, blues, even some green, and so I tried to capture that as best I could with the shadows and wispy feel of the clouds and the mountain right before we passed it and it faded out of view.
Peak Above The Clouds

Mountains in the clouds…

So this morning on the flight home I happened to glance out the airplane window and see a mountain top peeking through the clouds. I grabbed my ipad a few minutes later and started drawing it….then I accidentally deleted it…so I had to start all over. Sometime tonight (if I don’t fall asleep) or tomorrow I’ll do an actual painting of it, because it was just absolutely amazing – in the mean time, here’s my 2 minute finger drawing…

Bad Artist

So I didn’t do anything today or yesterday…because yesterday I had my first ever massage and body wrap which was utterly and completely amazing! Today we mostly hung out, so I don’t have an excuse besides just being tired. Tomorrow I’ll be getting my finished ceramics and packing, but I *might* still be able to get a painting/drawing/some form of art in. And the weekend and Monday I’m not really holding my breath either. After that though, I think I’ll continue to do a daily painting/piece of art because of how much better I get just by painting a little thing everyday.
When I get home I’ll also be working on my gallery and integrating etsy or artfire or something and naturally, working on my book and re-releasing it via Amazon Createspace because I have an ISBN there. yay! All that’s left to do with that is reformat the covers and launch. 😀
I also have 500+ gold in WoW, which isn’t much but it’s more than I’ve ever had.

Painting Ceramics

Today we went to a pottery place and painted our own ceramics. They’ll bake them and gloss them and give them back to us on Friday. I made my very own tea set (because I don’t actually own one). First I was just going to make these two cups…

But as we went along, the staff started stocking and a triangle teapot started calling my name. So by the time we were all finished painting, I’d created a tea set complete with bonsai and Alice-in-Wonderland references.

iPhone art (#14)

Decided to paint on/with my iphone today after lunch, and tomorrow we’ll be painting pottery. I’m trying to decide on a cup or a plate and if I should make a movie reference or just play with it. But that’s besides the point – today I tried something different with the brushes app instead of filling everything in like I usually do, I just colored the sky and left everything else. I really like the style and might try to incorporate it into future paintings.

Painting in my Head (#12)

Yesterday, while we were on our walk/hike I stopped and paused and started painting in my head – visualizing the image I was going to paint – and then did a really really rough 5 second sketch in my notebook and called it a day. This morning I created a 6×6 painting of what was going on in my head. I like it 😀

Watercolor on the West Coast #9 and #10

Yesterday, I woke up feeling sort of bad and didn’t end up doing anything, so this morning (still sickish) I made two pieces. The first, for yesterday, I just drew in my notebook, and the second is inspired by a friend. 🙂 Hopefully we’ll all get over whatever we’re coming down with quickly.
